Vantage Terms of Service
Version 1 · Last updated 11 September 2026
This document is the same agreement the app displays under Settings → Data & Privacy → Terms of Service. The in-app copy lives in
Vantage/Core/Legal/LegalDocuments.swiftand the two must stay in sync — if they ever disagree, the version shown in the app at the time you accepted is the one that governs, and the divergence is a bug.The governing-law and limitation-of-liability sections have not been reviewed by a lawyer. See
LEGAL_CHECKLIST.md, section 2.12.
In short
Vantage shows you your own financial data. It is not advice, it never moves money, and it can be wrong — your bank's records are the ones that count. You keep everything you put into it. If you disagree with these terms, delete the app; there is no account to close.
This summary is not the agreement. The agreement is below.

1. Agreeing to these terms
By using Vantage you agree to these terms and to the [Privacy Policy](PRIVACY_POLICY.md). If you do not agree, do not use the app. Vantage has no user accounts, so deleting the app is how you end this agreement, and doing so takes your data with it.
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to connect a financial account.
2. What Vantage is, and what it is not
Vantage is a read-only personal bookkeeping tool. It retrieves data about accounts you choose to connect, organizes it, and shows it to you.
Vantage never moves money. It cannot transfer funds, pay a bill, initiate a payment, hold a balance, or instruct your bank to do anything. It is not a bank, a credit union, a money transmitter, a payment processor, a broker-dealer, an investment adviser, a tax preparer, a credit-repair organization, or a law firm, and it is not licensed as any of those. Every action involving money is one you take yourself at your own institution.
This is not a limitation that a future version quietly removes. It is the line the whole app is built around, and the reason features that would cross it — moving money between your own accounts, holding a savings balance, paying a bill on your behalf — are absent rather than pending.
3. Not advice
Nothing in Vantage is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or to take any financial action. Insights, projections, budget warnings and AI answers are descriptions of your own past data and arithmetic on it. They can be wrong.
Decisions about your money are yours. For advice about your circumstances, consult a licensed professional.
4. Connecting accounts
Connecting an institution uses a third-party data provider. You authenticate with that provider, under its terms and its privacy policy, and by connecting an account you also agree to those. You confirm that the accounts you connect are yours, or that you are authorized to access them.
Vantage never receives your banking credentials. It receives data the provider returns after you have authorized it, and it stores that data on this device.
Data providers can and do fail. Connections break, institutions change their systems, and consent windows expire. Vantage will tell you when a connection needs attention; it cannot guarantee that any particular institution will keep working.
Which provider handles a given institution, what it can see, and how to revoke it are set out in Appendix B of the [Privacy Policy](PRIVACY_POLICY.md#appendix-b--what-each-data-provider-sees) and shown in the app before each link flow opens.
5. Accuracy
Balances and transactions in Vantage are copies retrieved from your institution through a data provider. They may be delayed, incomplete, mis-categorized or wrong. Pending activity, holds, weekend posting and provider outages all affect what you see.
Your institution's own records are authoritative. Check them before making any decision that depends on an exact figure. Vantage is not responsible for an overdraft, a missed payment, a fee, a tax position or any other consequence of relying on a number shown in the app.
Categorization is automatic and imperfect. You can correct any category, and a correction you make is never overwritten by the app.
Manual accounts show whatever you typed in. Vantage does not verify those values and cannot tell when they go stale — a valuation you entered a year ago will keep counting toward your net worth until you change it.
Projections are arithmetic on your past transactions, not predictions. They assume your income and spending continue roughly as they have. Treat every projected date and amount as a rough estimate.
6. Subscriptions you find in Vantage
Vantage identifies recurring charges and shows you where and how to cancel them. It does not cancel anything for you, does not contact merchants on your behalf, and is not your agent for any purpose. Marking something as cancelled in Vantage is a note to yourself; it has no effect on the merchant. Until the merchant confirms a cancellation, assume the charge is still active.
Amounts described as potential savings are what you would stop paying if you cancelled or changed something, based on what you have paid before. They are not guaranteed, and Vantage does not obtain them for you.
7. Your data and your content
Your financial data is yours. Vantage claims no ownership of it and no licence to use it beyond running the app on your device. Notes, tags, categories and rules you create are yours too.
You can export everything at any time from Settings → Data & Privacy → Export My Data, and you can delete everything from Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete.
The app itself — its code, design and text — is not yours, and nothing here grants you a licence to it beyond ordinary use of the app as distributed through the App Store.
8. Acceptable use
Do not use Vantage to access accounts that are not yours or that you are not authorized to access. Do not use it to break any law, to violate a data provider's terms, or to attempt to extract another person's data. Do not reverse-engineer the app to obtain credentials or to bypass a provider's rate limits.
9. No warranty
Vantage is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. It can fail to sync, sync the wrong thing, or lose data. Do not use it as your only record of your finances.
Because your data is stored on your device and there is no copy on any server, your device's backup is the only backup. If you lose the device without one, the data cannot be restored by anyone.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bryant De Luna-Peralta is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost savings, lost data, overdraft fees, interest charges or missed payments, arising from your use of Vantage.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, total liability for any claim relating to Vantage is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Third-party trademarks
Bank, card and brokerage names and logos belong to their owners and are used in Vantage only to identify accounts you have connected. Vantage is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or partnered with any financial institution or data provider named in the app.
12. Changes
These terms may change. When they change materially, the version number goes up and Vantage asks you to review them again before you continue using it. Continuing to use the app after accepting a new version means you accept it; declining means you should delete the app.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here limits any right you have under the mandatory consumer-protection law of the place you live.
These terms contain no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver. That is a deliberate choice for this version and may change; if it does, the version number goes up and you are asked again.
